Physical abilities: With spring and summertime come Ethan's favorite thing- playgrounds!! He loves to climb, slide, jump- if its physical, then he loves it! The other week, he managed to grab onto the edge of the kitchen island and let himself hang and swing for a few minutes. He's a strong little guy!
Speech/language: Lots of growth in the speech department. He's got about 10 words- Mama, Dada, bus, purple, waffle, milk, more, please, Thomas (bahbah), help, down, no, yes. He started speech therapy last week and I think he's going to improve his speech quickly!
Reading/pre-reading: His current favorite books are the "Where are Baby's _______ (pumpkin, belly button, Easter eggs, etc)?" He loves to turn the pages, lift the flap, and shout 'NO'! He hasn't figured out that you're supposed to say Yes at the last page yet.
Other cognitive stuff: Beginning to count- if we say 'one, two,...' he'll say 'three (free)'!
Eating: In a bit of a picky stage right now. Likes what he likes and doesn't want to try anything new. He still loves bananas, blueberries, and watermelon. Loves his milk, grilled cheese, quesadillas, and peanut butter and jelly. He still won't touch any meats.
Sleeping: One three hour nap from about 1-4pm. Still a good night time sleeper and sleeps from about 7:30pm to 6:30am. We knew something was wrong with him around New Years since he just could not be comforted back to sleep no matter what we tried. So not like Ethan!
Social: He's still very shy when he meets new people, but warms up quickly if you play with him. He loves his friends at daycare!
Character/personality: Starting to get into the terrible two tantrum phase! He's Mr. Independent and wants what he wants and if he doesn't get it....uh oh! We're working on that. Still adores Thomas the Train.

Physical abilities: Toddling all over the place! He'll squat to play with things, walk up and down steps, though he does prefer to hold one of our hands when walking up or down steps or hills.
Speech/language: Developing into 2-3 word phrases. He's figured out "I want..." "I need....", so he's getting to be quite demanding ;). The sweetest is when he says "I want Mama!"
Reading/pre-reading: He loves to "wead, wead"! His favorite book by far is Chica, chica, boom boom! But he'll listen to any story, so long as you are reading. Reading aloud to him is also a calming cue for him. If he's fussing, reading to him instantly calms him down.
Other cognitive stuff: He'll count to two now and can name some of his colors- purple, green, and blue.
Eating: Very stubborn with his eating. Won't try anything new no matter how many times we offer a food option to him. Prefers his favorites.
Sleeping: Sleeping through the night most nights. He must have his puppy dog stuffed animal to sleep. We had to go buy another to have on hand just in case something happens to the first puppy dog. The best part about his latest demands- now when he wakes up at night, he'll tell us what he wants. There have been a few nights we've heard "I want juice!" over the monitor.
Social: Such a social butterfly. Thrives on interaction with others. We'll be playing in the driveway and he'll stand up, start waving at whoever is walking by, and shout "HI, HI!!" until the person waves back.
Character/personality: Chase is my mama's boy. There are times when only a hug and a kiss from mama will fix things. Such a sweet boy!
