Physical abilities: Ethan is a little running, tumbling machine! He got a Strider balance bike for his birthday and LOVES it! He's figured out how to take bigger strides and has even lifted his feet a few times to glide for a few seconds. The first time we took it outside to ride, he bawled when we had to go inside for bed. He's also figured out how to jump off of things. It started out with his little gym mats that we have and he was even daring enough to jump off the couch! I'm so not ready for this!
Speech/language: Tons of growth with his speech. He had his 3 month check up with the speech therapist and she had counted up over 75 words (he started at 3 words at 21 months!!), about 15 2-3 word phrases, and he even said his first sentence. We were at the beach and were walking back to the beach house. As we were approaching the end of the beach, E spotted the ice cream truck and shouted "I see ice cream truck!" I wouldn't have believed it, but thankfully my sister was there and heard it too. Not sure where he figured out what the ice cream truck is since he hasn't had ice cream from an ice cream truck yet ;-)
Reading/pre-reading: Still my little book worm. He's fallen back in love with his Thomas books and The Going to Bed book by Sandra Boynton. The second you start to read, he runs over to sit in your lap. He'll even stop playing with his trains to read a book!
Other cognitive stuff: Can count to ten!! I was shocked the first time I heard he do it since I thought he could only count to three! Knows purple, blue, yellow, red, and can label objects with colors (blue boat, red boat, yellow boat, etc). Knows a few of his shapes (circle, oval)
Eating: Still in the same picky stage. Likes what he likes and doesn't want to try anything new. He still loves bananas, blueberries, and watermelon. Loves his milk, grilled cheese, quesadillas, and peanut butter and jelly. He would eat bananas and drink milk all day if we would let him.
Sleeping: One three hour nap from about 1-4pm. Still a good night time sleeper and sleeps from about 8pm to 7am. He has to have his Cookie Monster stuffed animal, his Thomas pillow, and all three of his Wubbanub ducks to go to bed.
Social: Now that he has so many words, he doesn't stop talking! He talks about everything he sees, tries to tell us things, and babbles all day long. We've been doing lots of playdates and he's still a bit shy around the other kids. He'll play along side of them for a little while, then go off to play by himself.
Character/personality: He's such a laid back little guy. Not much phases him and (knock on wood) for being 2, he's has few temper tantrum. Most of them are because he has to stop doing something he was playing with or when he wants a banana or milk. He is in love with boats! Real boats, kiddie ride boats, toy boats, pretend boats, boat slides (log flume ride), doesn't matter what it is, if its a boat, he's thrilled. Daddy's thrilled as well!

Physical abilities: Slowly building up his strength! We started a gym class at the beginning of June. At first, he would refuse to hold onto the bars or rings and let me let him go. Now, he'll hold on tightly, lift his feet, and swing for a few seconds! Still a bit wobbly on his feet, but he's getting faster and faster every day!
Speech/language: He's beginning to talk in sentences. Some of his favorite sentences are "______, where are you??" or "We're watching Puppy!" (Blue's Clues)
Reading/pre-reading: He's currently into finger puppet books, especially the Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Other cognitive stuff: He can count to ten and gets extremely excited when he says ten. Knows a few of his colors (yellow, blue, purple) and knows several shapes (circle, oval, square, octagon!!)
Eating: He's becoming a bit more adventurous with his eating. He'll at least touch most of the food we put on his plate, even if its just to play with it. If we can get him to try a bite, he usually loves it (YUMMY!!), but sometimes its hard to get him to try the initial bite.
Sleeping: Still waking up 2-3 nights a week. He's in love with Elmo and must have his Elmo stuffed animal and puppy dog with him to fall asleep. I still haven't figured out any pattern to his good nights and his night wakings.
Social: Such a social butterfly. Thrives on interaction with others. Says the most adorable "Hello Mama!" He'll be playing on the playground and randomly stop to say hello. Loves to play with other kids and share his toys with them. Though, when he wants a toy, he wants it!
Character/personality: He is my snuggler! Anytime we watch a show (the current favorite is Blue's Clues), he has to sit next to me and snuggle in tightly. He loves to say things like "I sit next to Mama!" or "I hold Mama!" He does have a bit of a temper (probably gets it from his mama ;-) ), so we're trying to work on that. When he's upset, he'll hit or throw things. Typically, the temper is usually when he's tired or feels like he's not getting enough attention from his mama or dada.
