27 months old!

Child's name: Ethan Richard

Age: 2 years 3 months

Weight: about 31lbs

Height: 36 inches

Physical abilities: Ethan is on the go constantly!  Love to run, jump, climb.  Still loves his strider bike, but we haven't been the best about riding outside.  Loves swimming this year!  Last year, he didn't love the pool, so I'm happy he loved it this year.

Speech/language: So much growth with his speech!  I'm hoping we can be dismissed from speech soon!  He has so many words right now and lots of 2-3 word phrases, plus lots of sentences (Gramma ride in mommy's car!).  He loves to narrate whats going on around him.

Reading/pre-reading: I've been slacking on reading lately, but he still loves our bedtime routine of reading stories.  Thomas books are still his favorite!  He's starting to memorize some of his favorite books and can say that last word on a page while reading.

Other cognitive stuff: Can count to ten consistently and can count to 20 at times!  He can count objects up to 5 on his own and up to 10 with help.  He's working on his alphabet and loves to sing "abd....g...p..tuvwxyz"  Knows his colors and shapes (including octagon...I had fourth graders who didn't know octagon!)

Eating: Still in the same picky stage.  Likes what he likes and doesn't want to try anything new.  He still loves bananas, blueberries, and watermelon.  Loves his milk, grilled cheese, quesadillas, and peanut butter and jelly.  He would eat bananas and drink milk all day if we would let him.  He loves strawberries, but we realized that they give him a nasty diaper rash, so he can't have those anymore.

Sleeping: One three hour nap from about 1-4pm. Still a good night time sleeper and sleeps from about 8pm to 7am.  He has to have his Cookie Monster stuffed animal, his Thomas pillow, and all three of his Wubbanub ducks to go to bed.  He insists on having all 3 ducks, so I'm getting nervous about transitioning away from the pacifier at night.

Social: Still very shy around new people, but warms up quickly.  Once he warms up to you, he'll steal your heart.  Such a sweet little guy!!

Character/personality: Such a sweet, laid back, good natured little guy.  Not much phases him and he's content to play with his Thomas trains all day.  His favorite trains change frequently, but he tends to always come back to the Emily train and her coal car.  He's very patient with his brother and all of his antics.

Child's name: Chase Adam

Age: 2 years 3 months

Weight: 30lbs

Height: 36 inches

Physical abilities: Getting stronger and stronger!  He'll swing from bars and hang.  He's still a bit clumsy.  He even ended up with a possible concussion from tripping and hitting his head.  Working on jumping and can do a bit of a hop with two feet.

Speech/language: He's gotten quieter now that Ethan is talking more, but when he does talk, its in very clear sentences.  He loves to say "Hello" to people in this adorable little accent.  It melts my heart anytime he says it.

Reading/pre-reading: He's starting to tell back stories based on the pictures and from us reading it together.  He'll sit and look at the pages and mimic what I read to him.

Other cognitive stuff: He can count consistently up to ten and up to 20 at times.  He'll count, but tends to skip numbers.  He's working on his alphabet and can sing 'abcde..g...lmnop....s...vwxyz"  He knows his shapes, but is still sometimes unsure about his colors.  Definitely knows blue and yellow.

Eating: He has come so far with eating!  He used to be such a picky eater and now he'll eat whatever we're having for dinner.  Still won't touch vegetables, but hopefully we'll overcome that soon.  Loves bananas and apples!

Sleeping: Still waking up 2-3 nights a week. We think he's cold at night, so added a fleece sleep sack at bedtime.  That seems to help a little bit, but he's still waking up.  I'm starting to think he'll just be someone who wakes up at least once a night for his entire life.

Social: Still my social butterfly!  Loves to say hello and wave to people!  If you can get him giggling and laughing, he'll be your best friend.

Character/personality: Such a snuggle bug.  When he wants a hug, he says "snuggle Mama" now.  So adorable!  Still a bit high needs as he needs to have your attention at all times otherwise he'll get a bit of a temper.  Its the worst in the car when I can't focus 100% on him and he gets quite upset.  We're trying to work through better ways to express ourselves (as appropriate for a 2 year old LOL!)
