My boys were born to be fish. Adam and I both grew up swimming and met on our college swim team. After graduating, we continued to help coach the local age group swim team that Adam swam on while growing up. When we announced we were expecting twins on July 3, it became the running joke that they had to wait to be born until after June 1 as June 2 is the ideal summer swimming birthday. Thankfully my boys listened and actually had to be forced into this world on June 14. True to form, we first took the boys swimming when they were just 6 weeks old. We started swim lessons when they were 3 months old, and now they LOVE the water! They start squealing and bouncing when they see the water and realize that we're going swimming.
We had a blast this summer going to the pool a few times a week. We started out by using baby floats where they would sit in the middle. But that was not enough for my active boys, especially Chase. He wanted to go, go, go. My mother-in-law bought them little life vests that were perfect for them. They could be independent in the water and I didn't have to stress as much every second we were there (just every other second ;-) ). They would swim all over the pool, jump off the sides, etc. They loved the freedom! Seeing as they will at least be around pools early on in life, I'm so glad that they love swimming so much!
